Made from Premium Plus wood, ‘Shade’ is our lightest level of firing. Shade can give a stunning rustic look. It is lightly fired then brushed and treated with oil to allow the natural grain to show the timber’s character.
Permachar® timber has undergone fire treatment to preserve it. The Japanese call it “Yakisugi (焼杉)”. This charring process protects the wood against wind, rain, rot, and insects. It also substantially extends the natural lifespan of the wood.
